Upcoming Greenville UMY Activities:
"you are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house"
Matthew 5:14/15

Youth Ministry Box

There is an offering box beside the doors to the narthex. Any money placed in that offering box each Sunday is used for the youth ministries at Greenville United Methodist Church.

Reaching out to all youth grades 6-12...
With Sunday Night Youth and special events each month, Greenville provides opportunities for fun and fellowship for all middle and high school youth. It is our prayer that these programs reach out to not only Greenville’s youth, but their secular friends as well. Special Events include picnics, swim parties, bowling, movie nights, retreats and much more.  Sunday Night Youth provides games, short talks and small group discussions.
Growing in faith...
The Middle and High School years are a time for youth to actively explore their faith and embrace it as their own. Greenville provides discipleship opportunities to help kids grow closer to God as they study His Word. Sunday school provides opportunities for discussion and the exploration of the tenets of Christianity. Retreats, events such as Middle School Retreat High School Retreat, District Youth Retreat, and Awakening, and Sr. High Cell groups give youth a place to discuss the life application of Christianity and to learn how to “walk the talk.”
Serving our church, the community, and the world...
Greenville’s youth participate in our services, cook brunch for the church congregation once a month, and serve in leadership positions in the local church, district and the conference. We’ve helped clean the church on regular scheduled times and done construction projects for Solid Rock Cafe, mentored local Hispanic children. For the past seven summers, teens have served a on mission teams at Middle School Mission at Westview on the James  building wheel chair ramps, replacing floors, and repairing roofs and went on weeklong mission trip to Guatemala to build stoves for Mayan families.
Celebrating the wonder of our Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ...

We worship God and our Savior in all that we do through song, prayer, service, and fellowship.
PARTNER in Ministry Opportunities- there are several ways to serve in the youth program:
            1. Supporter this is usually for single events, with designated jobs and limited preparation. Some examples are: snacks, driving, cleaning, shopping, music, movie night host, maintain data base, web site, promotional activities, prayer team.
            2. Friend This would also be for single events, but with more interaction with the youth, and could span an entire event. Some examples: chaperone lock-in, attend retreats, camping, driving to and from and attending concerts and/or special events.
            3. Ministry Partner This person is involved in regular participation at youth activities, and builds relationships with the youth. Examples: give talks, lead small group, teach Sunday school, plan individual activities, coordinate worship music, participate in special event planning.

            4. Team Leader This individual is integrally involved in all aspects of Greenville’s Youth Ministry. He/she leads specific youth ministry sections, has strong relationships with youth, meets regularly with Youth Ministry Coordinator, and participates in special event planning. Some examples are: Middle School Youth Group Leader, High School Youth Group Leader, Cell Group Coordinator, Sunday School Coordinator.
